Three days short of the official start of the NZ southern winter, the dogs have been well and truly been let out!
Hundereds of miles north in the Hutt Valley and the greater Wellington region it is freezing cold and we are already preparing for the night – extra blanket on the bed and heat pump steady on 22C at present. Yesterday Dunedin was dumped in snow and very much isolated, along with many other areas in central Otago. Looks nice in pictures, but they could really do without it! This is July/August weather.
